Two orientation programs are offered to new students at the beginning of each academic year. The first orientation program is conducted online and focuses on providing essential information about the academic structure and administrative processes at BTU and the School of Foreign Languages (SFL). This program covers key topics such as the assessment system, course structure, grading policies, lesson system, and other vital academic procedures. Students are introduced to the platforms and tools they will be using throughout their studies, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the academic environment. This online orientation aims to equip students with the knowledge they need to succeed academically and help them understand the expectations and resources available to them.
The second orientation program takes place on campus, offering students a chance to become familiar with their physical learning environment. During this in-person session, students participate in a variety of activities designed to help them get to know the campus, meet their instructors, and connect with their classmates. These activities include guided tours of the campus, social events, and interactive sessions with instructors. The aim of this on-campus orientation is to foster a sense of community and help students establish relationships with their peers and teachers. Students are encouraged to explore the campus, learn about student clubs, and begin integrating into campus life by engaging in these activities.
Both orientation programs work together to ensure that students understand the academic requirements and feel comfortable and connected within the larger university community. The first program prepares them for academic success, while the second ensures they feel a part of the university's vibrant social environment.
In addition, students are encouraged to consult with instructors assigned at the beginning of each academic quarter during their designated office hours. These consultations allow students to ask questions, receive guidance, and clarify any academic concerns they may have. Furthermore, students can reach out to their assigned instructors for assistance with the automation system or any other academic-related issues, ensuring they have continuous support throughout their studies.
